Got RIOT Today!

Hey everyone, this is the last blog before I leave for Florida.

I just got my Riot pedal today, didn't expect that, they said it would arrive on next tuesday, well, glad they made that sooner.

Just couldn't wait to plug it to the amp and play some big chords!

I would never believe any distortion pedal before, 'coz they can never make a distortion sound like an amp. I would never count on any distortion pedal. HOWEVER, Riot totally changed my mind, or I should say I'd only trust Riot so far.

Incrediblely, it really sounds like an amp, a great distortion amp, as they said it's supposed to sound like the Channel 2 of PT100 by CAA (a.k.a. sort of suhr's amp)

I can play from classic rock like AC/DC to modern metal like ... whatever, can't think of anything.
so I'm so satisfied, please really check this shit out! especailly if you are looking for a high gain pedal! http://www.suhrguitars.com/effects.aspx?series=riot

Practise + Play + Have Fun

I have my guitar, have pedals, have amp, living in a great house, having a great vacation!!
Ahh! Life is good

Life in Richmond, Life is GOOD!

Been here for a week, have done so many things, such as christmas shopping, meeting friends, meeting Derek's family and seeing the first snowing ever in my life.

Oh oh!! And I got an amp here. It is a Peavey Valveking 112, all tube combo.
I got that from GuitarCenter for only 279.99, that is my first christmas gift this year.
It works well, just a little tube problems, but I resolved it. GREAT! I LOVE IT!
It's not a fancy shit that I have in Hong Kong, but it works well, great clean tone, I have had enough, babe!

Today is the 9th day I've been here. Weather is good but cold, the snow eventually starts melting.
And I still play guitar everyday like crazy! I hope you guys do too!

I have been working on blues and country still. I uploaded a video on FB, I played what I always play when I pick up the guitar. Still Suhr guitar ( i will never get tired of them)

I will take some pictures of my guitar room here or maybe I will take a video.

Leaving Hong Kong today!

Hey Everyone here, I' m going to the United States today, so this is the last blog before I leave.

Not much going on, just getting ready for the trip, YEAH!

Two things I have to mention:

1. The Riot, a distortion pedal by Suhr, that is really amazing!

gotta get it!

2. Paul Gilbert Guitar Clinic at Guitar Center, that is really amazing too, and it absolutely recalls the memory of my youth, reminds me how much I used like Paul!! I still do now!

1st video out!! Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy Solo!

Hey Guys,

Thanks so much for your support, I've got so many feedbacks from friends and students,

I'm so thankful, and I will keep on doing that.

By the way, I had a good dim sum breakfast with my family, an uncle and a french cousin from France, they are very nice and they will be going back to France on the day after tomorrow, I will miss you all, (dada, you too, even you are still in France)

Today, I posted the 1st video here to make a great start. This is the solo from a song called "Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy" by my favorite band, Mr. Big.

I was frustrated at not being able to play this solo for almost 6 years when I was 15. Since I changed one of the phrases from upstroke-goes-first to downstroke-goes-first, I've been able to do it well.

I have been studying and practicing this solo all night long, and I'm so happy that I can get it done. Actually that is easier than you would imagine! email me if you want the TAB, wolfgang_from_hell@hotmail.com

Welcome to Jason's Guitar World

Today is Dec 8th.

This is the first post on this blog.

It is specially for my students and my musician friends.

I will be posting my instructional notes, worksheets, some scores and videos (i hope).

and we will discuss gears, techniques and theory here, and you are very welcome to post and create any topics here about guitar and music.

Most of time I don't have the note paper for the lesson, and I always say that i will send it back to you when i get home, and guess what? I'd totally forget when I get home mostly.

So I hope that I can post the note here for you to download or even the sound clip or the song.

So you better check it frequently, especially after the lesson.

And, ya know, I go to the united states very often for some reason, everybody knows that that I will be out of town on every long holiday or during the school exam.

So this is also a good way for me to post something for you to read, learn and study, keep in touch with you guys and keep you updated while I'm gone. As I said, hopefully I will post the video, so you can still see me while I'm not there ;)

I know every student loves me as much as I love them.
